An (Almost) Cloudless Day

Springtime?

This spring produces millions of gallons of water each day. There's actually an underwater cave near it's source that some scuba-divers went in to explore and it's supposedly quite deep. Don't count on any photos from me, though. I seen how those divers looked when they came back up and I don't think they had a bit of energy left.

The Mill

It may not matter to anybody but me, but this old mill was actually used by my ancestors (as well as many others) more than 100 years ago. It's just a tourist attraction now, but at one time it was fully operative and, back then, many of the area residents carved their name into it's side. I wonder who it was that carved my family's name?

Bringing out the Big Guns

I took this photo during a hunting trip I went on a while back of my new rifle. It was a great trip, not only because I had a successful hunt, but because some of my best photos were taken there. What stands out in my mind the most is the gorgeous sunsets I saw while there. I could have literally spent an entire day photographing this gorgeous piece of property.

Mountain Stream

I love this view of water streaming down this gorgeous mountain. There's been many times that we've hiked to the top of this mountain and just sat there looking out for miles and miles at the beauty of God's Creation.

The World’s Oldest Creek

Okay, so maybe this isn’t the world’s oldest creek, but chances are it was used by soldiers during the Civil War. It lies within walking distance of where the battle of Pilot Knob took place, and when we went down that way for a reenactment a while back, I saw this creek and knew I must photograph it! I climbed down the rocky ledge leading up to it (meanwhile my family walked off and left me!) and was able to snap this photo before I had to move on. I then scurried back up the hill and caught up with my family before they got too far away.

Country Farm House

For some reason, I think this looks like something you would see on a puzzle. On the other hand, however, I would certainly feel sorry for the person who had to put together the hillside! That would sure take some time.

And in case you were wondering, no, this isn't my house.

Landscape Panorama

You might have noticed that this picture is unusually wide. That’s because this is actually two pictures combined into one, forming what’s called a panorama. Unlike back in the days of film photography, panoramas are easy to make if you have the proper software. Simply take your shots, tell your program which photos you’d like to combine, and in a matter of minutes you have a state-of-the-art panoramic photo. By the way, if this landscape looks somewhat familiar, that's because it's the same view seen in the “God’s Living Room” photo from a few days ago. This has to be one of my favorite places on God’s earth.

 If you are a photography enthusiast like me, you know what it’s like to go back and look at some of your old photos. There are occasions where I can take 100-200 pictures in a single day, and it is nearly impossible to carefully consider each one once I return home. Thus they usually end up on a picture CD or stored somewhere on my hard drive until a day like today when I look at one of them and remember some of the great shots I’d forgotten about. Here is an example of what I’m talking about.

The World’s Largest Potato

Okay, so it’s not really a potato; but I didn’t lie about its size. This boulder takes the prize for the biggest rock I think I’ve ever seen (if you don’t count the one that it’s sitting on.) Pretty cool, huh?
